Heart Disease Among Women

February 10, 2010

What would you guess is the number one killer of women in America?

Maybe Breast Cancer. Maybe Cervical Cancer.

You might be surprised to know that Heart Disease is the number one killer of women. The study reported that about only half of women recognize this. In a study conducted by the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women public awareness campaign, only 54% recognized major symptoms of heart attack.

While some women are taking necessary preventive measures by seeing their doctors and getting their blood pressure checked, many are relying on unproven methods to reduce the risk of heart disease. Nearly 82% said they believed that fish oil would help them prevent heart disease.
